KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – An early Friday morning shooting has left one dead in Kalamazoo.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says at approximately 3:00 a.m. officers responded to the report of a subject who was struck by gunfire. They say 21-year-old Bryce Salter was shot and killed in the parking lot of a Campus Pointe plaza, near West Michigan Avenue and Howard Street.
Salter arrived in a private vehicle at a local hospital, but died from their injuries.
Witnesses reportedly told police there was a fight between two groups before someone in one of the group’s pulled a gun and shot Salter.
Even though the shooting occurred in the 2600 block of West Michigan Avenue near the Western Michigan University campus, school officials say Salter was not a student.
