OSHTEMO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – What started out as an investigation into a possible carjacking in Allegan County ended with the apprehension of two suspects on stolen vehicle charges in Kalamazoo County overnight.
The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by an outside agency around 3:00 a.m. Wednesday that a vehicle belonging to an Oshtemo resident was possibly involved in a carjacking in Allegan County. After deputies making contact with the registered owner, they determined the vehicle was stolen overnight.
With the registered owner being able to track the vehicle, they were able to lead deputies and members of Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety directly to the vehicle.
When KDPS located the stolen truck it was seen traveling with a second vehicle that was stolen from the Plainwell area. At that time both vehicles fled from law enforcement.
