CENTREVILLE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – St. Joseph County authorities are continuing their investigation into a vehicle-pedestrian accident Monday morning that injured one person.
Deputies were summoned to Fawn River Township at around 6:55 am, and discovered that a vehicle traveling westbound on Fawn River Rd near Big Hill Rd. had struck a pedestrian who had been in the roadway.
The 13 year-old victim, a resident of Fawn River Township, was treated at Sturgis Hospital initially, and then airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo for further treatment. Their condition is unknown at this time.
The 16 year old driver of the vehicle, a Sturgis resident, and their passenger, were not injured.
Speed and alcohol were not factors in the accident.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Sturgis Police Dept., the Michigan State Police, Life Care Ambulance, the Tri-Township Fire Department and Sturgis Towing.
