GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Galesburg man has been sentenced to 15 years behind bars for distributing child pornography.
41-year-old Chad Kraft received his sentence on Monday, October 24 in Federal Court in Grand Rapids, along with a 20-year supervision period following his incarceration.
Officials say that Kraft had been convicted in 2011 for fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct, and again in 2015 for failing to register as a sex offender. They went onto say that he also had a history of using aliases, different birth dates, and different social security numbers to avoid registration and evade detection.
Law enforcement received a tip back in March that Kraft, who had not registered as a sex offender since May 2021, was living in Galesburg and had explicit images of children on his phone. The seized phone and forensic exam revealed that Kraft used a messaging application to request and share child pornography.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office.
