LANSING, MI — A new WDIV/Detroit News poll a month before the November election shows incumbent Governor Gretchen Whitmer with a 17-point lead over Republican challenger Tudor Dixon. Whitmer’s numbers are not rising, but Dixon’s support has been eroding.
The new WDIV/Detroit News poll found motivation is largely driven by abortion rights and inflation, with voters who oppose the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade backing Whitmer over Dixon, 70-percent to 14-percent.
Most voters told pollsters Whitmer’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic is not a factor.
