LANSING, MI — A huge number of absentee voting ballots have already been requested for the August 2022 primary election in the state. Over 875-thousand voters in Michigan have so far requested an absentee ballot for the August 2 vote.
Secretary of State spokeswoman Tracy Wimmer says the absentee numbers jumped in 2020, and that trend is continuing. There were just over 500-thousand absentee ballot requests in the 2018 midterm primary election.
