LANSING, MI — Triple-A Michigan is predicting nearly one-point-seven-million people in the state will travel at least 50 miles from home for Independence Day weekend, up ten-percent from last year.
Over one-and-a-half million will drive, while 54-thousand will fly and almost 81-thousand will travel by bus, train, or take a cruise. Triple-A says the number of expected travelers is a definite sign that summer travel is kicking into high gear, despite record-high gas prices.
The Michigan Department of Transportation has already said it will open up as many construction zones across the state as possible to make for fewer headache troubles for travelers on the road.
