KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Michigan Department of Transportation is announcing that Portage Road in Kalamazoo will be closed to traffic between the east and west legs of Kilgore Road over the weekend and into next week.
MDOT says that section of the road will be closed starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 3, and will remain that way until 6 a.m., June 7.
Officials say the closure will allow road construction crews to set bridge beams for the eastbound I-94 bridge over Portage Road.
Traffic will be detoured on Milham Road, Westnedge Avenue, and Kilgore Road during the closure.
Motorists should also expect intermittent single-lane closures on eastbound I-94 at Portage Road from 7 a.m. Saturday, June 4, through 8 p.m., Sunday, June 5.
