KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Virginia semi truck driver accused of crashing into a Michigan State Police trooper on April 8 has pleaded no contest to his felony charges.
24-year-old Easton Norby-Vardac pleaded no contest to reckless driving causing serious impairment of a body function and failing to use due care when passing stationary emergency vehicle.
Norby-Vardac was driving east on I-94 at 74 miles per hour when he hit the cruiser driven by Trooper Cale Knaup, who was responding to a separate crash at the time.
The trooper inside the cruiser, Cale Knaup, suffered a concussion and cuts and bruises. Norby-Vardac suffered minor injuries.
The truck driver’s sentencing date is scheduled for July 25th.
