KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — During the 2020-2021 school year, KPS students were attending classes fully remote.
Then for the 2021-2022 school year, students returned to in-person learning and were required to mask up– up until now.
Kalamazoo Public Schools lifted their mask mandate as of Tuesday, May 31st.
KPS Superintendent Dr. Rita Raichoudhuri made the announcement earlier this month that masks would be optional outdoors, before recommending making them optional indoors on May 30.
KPS Board of Education members voted 4 to 0 to accept those recommendations.
The board also says that virtual learning options will still be available during the 2022-23 school year.
