KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — After a two-year virtual experience due to the pandemic, the 71st annual Kalamazoo Institute of Arts Fair, the second-longest-running arts fair in the country, returns to Bronson Park in downtown Kalamazoo on Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4.
Organizers say over 100 artists from across the Midwest and country will take part in the unique two-day art experience, bringing with them works in jewelry, photography, sculpture, painting, ceramics, glass, fiber, leather, wood, and more.
“The KIA is committed to supporting fine artists and craft artists locally and nationally,” said KIA Executive Director, Belinda Tate. “The museum and Kirk Newman Art School help all artists stay connected to the Kalamazoo community and the region. The magic of the KIA Arts Fair is that it’s instrumental in helping both artists and the community stay inspired and thrive,” said Tate.
In person shopping is back this year along with live entertainment, a beer garden, food trucks, and family-friendly activities. Galleries will be open for free admission on both days as well.
The Arts Fair hours are Friday, June 3, 12 to 8 p.m., and Saturday, June 4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Arts Fair coincides with several well-established community activities including events themed around JumpstART such as the Do-Dah Parade, Art on the Mall, and Kalamazoo Pride.
As one of the leading arts organizations in Michigan and the Midwest, the mission of the KIA is to promote and cultivate the creation and appreciation of visual arts. For more information, visit http://KIARTS.org
