KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Metro is seeking the public’s help in improving it’s city bus system and the service it provides for it’s riders.
Metro officials plan on holding two public meetings next week to discuss future route planning in Kalamazoo according a news release by the transit authority.
Both meetings will take place on Wednesday, May 18, at the Metro Administration Building at 530 North Rose Street.
The first meeting is set for 9:30 to 11 a.m. and the second is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m.
At the meetings, Metro officials will present two possible scenarios developed from a Comprehensive Operational Analysis, which is completed every 10 years.
In the first scenario, the overall footprint of the Kalamazoo Metro network remains similar, but each route is modified slightly. In the second scenario, routes are changed to serve the highest ridership destinations along the most streamlined path.
An online map allows riders to see the existing routes and proposed changes to each route, which can be viewed here. https://aecom-planning.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/
The website also asks riders for their feedback on the various scenarios and proposed changes to the routes. The route changes are also available for download online in PDF form here. https://www.kmetro.com/sites/default/files/public/metro_coa_scenarios_for_board_presentation_5_9_2022.pdf
