KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Kalamazoo County Parks Department is calling on the community to save local woodland ecosystems.
The department is actively seeking volunteers to pull Garlic Mustard from Prairie View County Park located in Vicksburg.
Garlic Mustard, a notorious local invasive, blankets woodland forest floors in early spring before native plants have a chance to grow. As a result, Garlic Mustard outcompetes the native plants.
The event will take place at Prairie County Park in Vicksburg on Saturday, May 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Volunteers should meet at the park and will receive free admission for the day. For more information email crbrin@kalcounty.com.
For more information about the park call (269) 383-8778 between 8:00am and 4:30pm Monday through Friday or by go online at www.kalamazoocountyparks.com
