GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Christopher Schurr is the Grand Rapids police officer who shot and killed 26-year-old Patrick Lyoya on April 4 following a traffic stop, which resulted in a foot chase and scuffle bewtween the two.
Grand Rapids Police Chief Eric Winstrom released Schurr’s name yesterday after noting it was “publicly circulating” despite the department’s policy of not naming suspects until they are charged.
Lyoya’s father, Peter, thanked Winstrom for releasing the officer’s name. The investigation is ongoing.
