KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A man accused of driving drunk and killing a Western Michigan University student back in November of 2021 turned himself into authorities on Monday, April 25.
Hunter James Hudgins of Tecomseh MI, was arraigned in Kalamazoo County District Court on one felony count of operating under the influence or while impaired by liquor causing death, and one misdemeanor count each moving violation causing death and person under 21 with a blood alcohol content of .02 to .07%.
Hudgins is accused of driving drunk on November 3, 2021, hitting and killing 19-year-old Bailey Broderick on Fraternity Village Drive off Michigan Avenue.
A warrant was issued for Hudgins’ arrest on Wednesday, April 20. T
he 19-year-old suspect was granted a $10,000 personal recognizance bond and is scheduled for a preliminary examination on Thursday, May 12.
