PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo area cleaning company is celebrating five years in business.
But what makes this seemingly normal milestone unique is that the business, Jeannie Cleaning, based in Portage, is also celebrating five years of helping out cancer patients along with coming in 3rd place for the most patients served in 2021.
Working hand in hand with the non-profit organization, Cleaning for a Reason, Jeannie Cleaning has supported 57 cancer patients with nearly $15,000 dollars of cleaning services since 2017.
The business was also recognized as the Top 3 Cleaning Partner for most cancer patients served in 2021, having helped 15 patients with more than $4,700 in cleanings.
Owner Jeannie Henderson was also recognized on April 7, 2022 at Cleaning for a Reason’s first annual Gala at the Omni Las Colinas Hotel with the Triple Star Award for her contributions in service, fundraising, and spreading awareness of the program.
“Cancer treatment makes it exhausting for patients to do the things they usually do,” said Henderson. “A free home cleaning visit helps the patient and their loved ones focus on the things that matter most… rest, healing, and precious time together. Our entire team feels very blessed to be able to serve cancer families in their time of need.”
And by coincidence, Cleaning for a Reason Week is going on now until Sunday, April 24, and anyone can help by volunteering or donating to the cause.
