HASTINGS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Barry County man was arrested for setting a police cruiser on fire.
31-year-old Jeremy Dunklee was caught in the act pouring gas on a parked cruiser at Hastings City Hall and then lighting it on fire around 5 p.m. on Monday, March 21.
At the same, the deputy chief of police of the Hastings Police Department had just pulled into the parking lot and was exiting her unmarked vehicle.
Dunklee was quickly apprehended by the deputy chief along with some helpful citizens.
Dunklee was charged and arraigned for third degree arson, malicious destruction of police property, assaulting and resisting a police officer, and a fourth habitual offender.
Bond for Dunklee was set at $200,000.
