PARCHMENT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Parchment resident Justin Mendoza has begun his campaign for the newly drawn 42nd Michigan State House District.
Mendoza, a Democrat, made the official announcement Thursday evening. According to a campaign release, he is a non-profit public health professional who graduated from Central Michigan University and moved to the East Coast for graduate studies and a career in public health policy.
In the press release, Mendoza said, “I have built my career on creating social movements and empowering people to act, and have seen the great lengths we all have to go through just to get lawmakers to pay attention to what regular people want. As an advocate, I’ve seen the best and the worst of our elected officials and I believe that what makes a good policy maker is their desire to truly listen to their communities. I am running for Michigan’s 42nd District because I want to be
that policy maker.”
At the event Thursday, Mendoza announced endorsements from former Congressman Mark Schauer, State Representatives Julie Rogers and Christine Morse, and former Kalamazoo County Commissioner Michael Seals.
