KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A television production company has come from the other side of the world to shoot in Kalamazoo.
They will be here for the next month and a half to tape scenes for a Japanese miniseries.
Jane Ghosh with Discover Kalamazoo says they are retelling the story of a man who had a brother from Kalamazoo. It’s based on the autobiography of a famous Japanese actor.
She estimates the crew will spend about $195,000 during their stay in town.
They will be filming mostly in the Vine Neighborhood, where the protagonist in the story once lived.
Ghosh hopes the story will have a happy ending, with tourists from Japan coming to town once the mini-series airs.
