PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Portage District Library will soon close for two months starting next week.
During this time, the library will move back to it’s newly renovated and expanded building at 300 Library Lane. The library’s temporary location at 5528 Portage Road will close it’s doors for the last time on Monday February 28th.
According to WWMT, the renovation has a two-floor expansion on the east side of the building with additional small meeting rooms and study spaces.
Also featured, a Creation Station, family bathrooms, and a mother’s room also added to the building. A redesigned entrance is also included to be more accessible along with a re-paved parking with adjusted handicapped parking and traffic flow.
Library Director Christy Klien told WWMT that she was excited to welcome the community into the newly renovated building.
An official reopening date to come in May once everything is in place and all of its services are ready.
