OTSEGO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A proposed tax increase in Otsego is meeting with resistance from some city residents.
City Manager Aaron Mitchell told WKZO news that the city has sought the public’s input on the possibility of the action for about two years, but that commissioners will formally seek comments beginning at the meeting on February 21st.
A number of residents say there are other avenues to meeting budget demands besides a Special Assessment District, which is what the proposed increase is.
Mitchell stated that several factors are involved with the budget woes Otsego is experiencing, and he understands the opposition to a tax increase, but at the same time, if there are other solutions out there, city officials will welcome hearing about them on the 21st.
