BENTON HARBOR, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — More than 125 employees and contractors from Indiana & Michigan Power are on their way to Ohio to assist American Electric Power with restoration efforts there.
Many in Ohio lost power in last week’s winter storm that gripped a huge portion of the country.
Crews will meet up in Columbus where they will be directed to specific locations in the state.
In a press release dated February 4, I&M’s Corporate Communications Manager Tracy Warner said that while the storm dropped significant snowfall throughout much of Indiana and Southwest Michigan, it didn’t cause significant disruptions of power. But in contrast, the ice storm that struck parts of Ohio was more damaging, causing widespread power outages.
I&M crews will remain in Ohio as long as needed to help restore power.
