KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Kalamazoo staple, the NuWay thrift store is finding a new way with a new name and a newly renovated and reorganized space.
The faith-based thrift store at 211 East Cork Street which has been a local favorite for 40 years will reopen as NuWay YFC Thrift Store on Friday, February 5th at 10 a.m.
Youth For Christ Kalamazoo or YFC, acquired NuWay in January, which became the organization’s second social enterprise, along with the beloved gourmet popcorn shoppe, Taste of Heaven.
YFC Development Director, Brian Parsons says all proceeds from New Way YFC Thrift Store and Taste of Heaven will go directly to helping reach youth in Kalamazoo through YFC’s multiple programs.
“New Way is going to provide us a new way to do youth development in Kalamazoo. YFC is planning to launch a new job skills training initiative for young people later this year that will utilize New Way as one of its internship possibilities,” said Parsons.
New Way YFC Thrift Store sells gently-used, re purposed items of clothing, furniture, electronics, housewares, books, media and jewelry.
The store is open from 10am to 6pm Monday through Friday and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays. Donations are accepted 10am to 4pm Mondays through Saturdays.
The store is closed on Sundays.
