SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Ice sculptures, Chili Cook-off, Cardboard Sled Race, Pub Slide, outdoor ice skating, Disc Golf Tournament, S’mores Roasting, Snowsuit Fashion Competition, Frozen Fish Fling, and many more outdoor activities will be a part of the 28th Ice Breaker Festival this weekend in South Haven.
Organizers say a highlight of this annual event is the sculpting of more than 40 blocks of ice, weighing 300-600 pounds each, into works of frozen art.
On Saturday the Boy Scouts “Heat the Streets” will offer three fire pits open for s’more roasting. Also on Saturday, the Professional Chili Cook-Off provides
downtown South Haven restaurants & bars the opportunity to vie for the coveted chili trophy and bragging rights.
The 4th Annual Frozen Fish Fling will be held at the South Marina, with the Coast Guard hill hosting the 5th annual Cardboard Sled Race Saturday afternoon.
Proceeds from Ice Breaker Festival help many local non-profit organizations to generate revenue to support local programming. Organizations that hold annual fundraising efforts during Ice Breaker Festival include Harborfest, National Blueberry Festival, Boy Scouts, Kiwanis and many others.
