WASHINGTON (Reuters) – A COVID-19 vaccine specifically targeting the Omicron variant would be “prudent” even if it ultimately may not be needed, the top U.S. infectious disease official said on Tuesday as Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE announced such a clinical trial.
Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden’s top medical adviser, told MSNBC he does not expect there to be indefinite surges of
COVID and that hopefully the virus will get to a low level of control even if it is unlikely to be eradicated.
