EAST LANSING, MI — President Joe Biden will nominate three people for the Federal Reserve’s Board of Governors, including a Michigan State University professor of economics and international relations.
Lisa Cook is one of three expected nominees for the Fed board coming from Biden yet this week, according to those familiar with the latest developments. Cook, a strong advocate for black women in economics, would be the first Black woman to serve as a Fed governor.
As a Fed governor, Cook would vote on interest-rate policy decisions at the eight meetings each year of the Fed’s policymaking committee, which also includes the 12 regional Fed bank presidents.
