WASHINGTON DC (WKZO AM/FM) – After several years of being the most expensive state for car insurance rates, Michigan has lost that distinction to another state.
Louisiana now has the most expensive car insurance rates, according to The Zebra, an insurance comparison site.
Rates in the state dropped 20% in 2020 due to insurance reforms put into place, and Michigan drivers saw a 4% increase in rates during the pandemic, as opposed to a 20% average increase across the country.
State drivers will also receive a $400 per vehicle check later this year as a rebate from the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association.
