HOLLAND (WHTC-AM/FM) — The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has ordered a recall of Moor Herbs’ “Angel” infant formula.
FDA tests found “iron, sodium, and potassium content were well over the maximum allowed, which could potentially lead to iron overload and/or electrolyte imbalances. In addition, the product did not have vitamin D, and a vitamin D deficiency can potentially lead to rickets, a softening and weakening of bones.”
So far, no illnesses or injuries have been reported.
The Detroit-based Moor Herbs indicates in a statement on the company website that the containers also were not properly labeled and had no lot numbers. The 16-ounce containers were sold starting in 2019.
Angel formula was sold via Moor Herbs’ Detroit retail store and online, nationwide, via moorherbs.com.
People who bought the now-recalled product should stop using it immediately and either throw it out or return to the company for a refund.
Parents and caregivers of infants who are concerned about their child’s health after using Angel formula should contact their health care provider.
People with questions can call the company at (313) 583-9709 or visit moorherbs.com.
