BLACK LAKE MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A fishing season that can be measured in hours is set to take place next month at a Northern Michigan lake.
The annual lake sturgeon fishing season on Cheboygan County’s Black Lake begins at 8 am on Saturday, February 5th, and is set to run until 2 pm on Wednesday, February 9th…but anglers know that the actual season can end the same day it begins.
The limit on catching the historic fish is six…not per fisherman…but six total.
And the number can be reduced to five if that amount is caught during any single day.
Lake sturgeon is a prized catch that can reach over seven feet long and weighing over 200 pounds.
