LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A ballot drive has begun in Michigan, aimed at protecting a woman’s right to an abortion in the event that Roe v Wade is overturned by the US Supreme Court.
The initiative was started Friday by a group calling itself Reproductive Freedom for All, and would amend the state’s constitution to allow a woman to continue to make choices about reproductive freedoms, including abortion.
Currently, there is a 90-year-old law in Michigan that prohibits abortion, and if Roe v Wade was reversed, that law could be enforced.
The group needs to obtain about 425 thousand signatures to get the proposal on November’s ballot.
