Though it’s half a continent away that infamous West Coast port bottleneck continues to cause grief for producers and consumers alike as 2021 wraps up.
U-S Representative Dan Newhouse, chair of the Western Caucus says there’s been no improvement in recent weeks with all of the factors that have caused the showdowns still in place, while in some cases they get worse. He points to mandated vaccines and possible loss of some of the critical employees within the supply chain. The lawmaker says he’s hopeful negotiations for many of the port labor issues that will begin soon will lead to a solution to the crisis.
Newhouse says extended work hour periods would help alleviate congestion in costal harbors.
