Prisoners will be able to virtually attend family funerals

LANSING, MI — The Michigan Department of Corrections is going to allow inmates to virtually attend funerals of immediate family members.

The video connection will be at the state prison.  DOC director Heidi Washington says inmates are still human beings and “helping them maintain connections to family and to the community that most likely will someday return to are important steps to long-term public safety.”
