KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – United Bay Community Credit Union (UBCCU) has announced that it will provide free Christmas trees to residents in the Kalamazoo area.
The giveaway begins on Monday, December 6, and will run while supplies last.
“For years, UBCCU has offered free Christmas trees to families in need in the Kalamazoo area,” officials said in a statement. “We are continuing this annual tradition starting Monday, December 6th – the trees will be placed outside our Mattawan and Portage branches and are free for anyone to take.”
To receive a free tree, residents can visit one of the two following locations Mattawan and take the desired tree from the available selection –
- Mattawan – 52800 North Main Street, or
- Portage – 233 West Centre Avenue in the Portage Center Plaza
The trees are free to take and are available 24 hours a day.
“Christmas can be a difficult time for those who are financially struggling,” officials said. “This free tree initiative, along with our continued support of Toys for Tots and local food pantries, is our company-wide effort to ease the economic burden placed on local families.”
