KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police have arrest a man believed to have committed a string of armed robberies in Kalamazoo. Authorities say the robberies occurred on October 23rd and October 25th at six locations throughout the city.
October 23:
Great Wall Chinese Restaurant, 3025 South Westnedge Avenue, at 4:59 p.m.
Bottom’s Up Convenience & Smoke, 930 West Michigan Avenue, at 5:06 p.m.
October 25:
AutoZone, 814 E. Cork Street at 6:51 p.m., King Market, 407 Mills Street at 10:03 p.m.
Munchie Mart, 3626 West Michigan Avenue at 11:10 p.m.
Drake Party Center, 4717 West KL Avenue at 11:19 p.m.
In each case, the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said the robber went into the store, showed a handgun and told workers to give him money.
Police say they arrested a 21-year-old suspect after executing two search warrants, one on Lay Boulevard near Portage Street and the other on Albatross Court off Oakland Drive in Portage.
The suspect’s name is not being released at this time released pending arraignment, which could happen as early as Friday.
The arrest was an effort between the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety’s Crime Reduction Team and Criminal Investigations Division, as well as the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team.
