KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Cass County man has pleaded guilty to killing a 64-year-old man outside of a Kalamazoo apartment complex on February 25, 2021.
Authorities say 30-year-old Jordan Johnson pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, felony firearms and possession of a firearm by a felon on Thursday, October 28, as part of a deal with the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office.
Johnson is set to serve between 25 and 45 years in prison, instead of a life sentence for fatally shooting 64-year-old Michael Vines outside the Elements on Main Apartments on West Main Street.
The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said Vines died at the scene after suffering several gun shot wounds. Johnson confessed to the shooting because he said he was jealous his child and the mother of his child moved in with Vines earlier that day, police said.
Johnson is scheduled for sentencing on Dec. 7.
