EAST LANSING, MI — Michigan State University is hoping to avoid any distractions this week as it prepares for its showdown with the University of Michigan on Saturday, but a possible one has come to light.
Fifth-year quarterback Anthony Russo, a backup to the starter Payton Thorne, was arrested for drunk driving in East Lansing early on the morning of Oct. 17 following the Spartan’s win at Indiana. According to a report by MLive, the Temple transfer was arrested at 2:55 a.m. by East Lansing Police and registered a .140 blood alcohol level, which is nearly double the legal limit.
Russo appeared in East Lansing district court on Wednesday and plead guilty to reckless driving in exchange for having the OUI charge dropped, according to MLive. Russo admitted to running a stop sign and swerving in the road prior to his arrest.
