KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Western Michigan football wide receiver Skyy Moore has been named the Mid-American Conference Male Scholar-Athlete of the Week, announced Wednesday by the league office.
Moore tallied eight catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns, as the Bronco offense posted a season-high 648 total yards, and delivered a 64-31 Homecoming victory over Kent State on Saturday.
The sophomore Pittsburgh native had a 27-yard touchdown reception on the opening WMU drive, and added a 26-yard score on an acrobatic catch in the third quarter.
The MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week is awarded to a male and female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week’s competition. Each week, schools are asked to nominate one female and one male among the sports that are in season at the time. The winners are selected by a group of the conference’s faculty athletic representatives.
Wednesday marks the third-consecutive week that WMU has had a MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week. A total of seven different MAC schools have earned the distinction this fall, and the Broncos have the most recipients (three).
