ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Deputies from the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office were kept busy Sunday night due to two separate vehicle crashes.
The first of these crashes occurred around 7:21 p.m., when deputies were called to Balk Road and Mintdale Road in Sherman Township.
In that incident, a motorcycle driven by a 33-year-old Sturgis man was traveling north on Balk Road when he collided with a deer.
He was taken to the Sturgis Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Then, just a short time later, deputies were again dispatched to another crash around 7:49 p.m.
In that incident, deputies were called to the area of US-12 and White School Road in Sturgis Township for a crash involving a car and a motorcycle.
The motorcycle was driven by a 25-year-old female from Sturgis, who was traveling westbound on US-12.
A car driven by a 75-year-old Indiana man pulled out into the intersection from White School Road when both vehicles collided.
The motorcycle driver was flown by Air Care to Bronson Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger of the car were not injured, and deputies say speed may have been a factor. That crash is still under investigation at this time.
