ATHENS TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department have a suspect in custody following an armed robbery in Athens Township on Monday night.
Deputies were dispatched at about 7:30 p.m. to the 3000 block of 3 ½ Mile Road where the victim said they were selling a speaker on Facebook Marketplace.
He made arrangements for a potential buyer to meet him at his residence to complete the sale. The victim stated that the suspect, who was later identified as a 27-year-old woman from the Pennfield area arrived and was accompanied by a man.
The victim said they asked him to put the speaker in their car to test it. Once the speaker was in the car, the suspects then tried to drive away without paying for it. When the victim tried to stop them, the female suspect produced a handgun, pointed it at the victim and made threats as she drove away.
After identifying a possible suspect, deputies went to an address on Harriet Lane where the suspect was arrested without incident.
She was being held in the Calhoun County Jail on armed robbery charges.
