PARCHMENT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A theme day for homecoming week at Parchment High School turned controversial this week after some students allegedly displayed disruptive behavior.
Tuesday’s theme was “U.S.A. Day” encouraging students to wear red, white, and blue or other patriotic displays. But apparently, a handful of students took it in a divisive direction. A letter was sent to parents by Principal George Stamas who says the entire student body was addressed Wednesday.
He said an incident caused a “disruption to the educational process”. Although specific actions were not mentioned in the letter, photos from parents on Parchment social media pages showed one student bearing a Trump flag with profanity that said “F*** Your Feelings” on it. Several others reported a few students running down the halls using the “N” word that day.
There’s no word yet on any specific disciplinary measures, but in the letter, Stamas says the school will not “tolerate actions that belittle, demean, threaten or put down others”.
