KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Police have released the name of the person who was killed in a crash on U.S. 131 near Stadium Dr. Tuesday evening. The driver of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which crossed a median while trying to avoid a deer, was identified as 34-year-old Brian Klintworth of Otsego. He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His front-seat passenger and wife, 30-year-old Krystal Klintworth, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. She was transported to Bronson Hospital for treatment.

KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Two separate crashes caused shutdowns for hours and long traffic backups Tuesday night on U.S. 131 and I-94 in Kalamazoo County.
One person was killed in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 131 near Stadium Dr. which led to a temporary closure of the freeway. Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at around 8:15. The crash involved two vehicles and a semi-truck.
Michigan State Police officials say a vehicle was traveling southbound near exit 36 when a driver swerved to avoid hitting a deer. The vehicle crossed the median and struck a northbound semi-truck. A third vehicle traveling northbound also struck the semi-truck a short time later.
The driver of the car that crossed the median was pronounced dead at the scene. All others involved were said to have minor injuries. The freeway was closed for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
Earlier, the westbound lanes of I-94 near Galesburg were closed for several hours after a crash involving four vehicles. The closure happened between exits 85 and 88 at around 5:30 p.m.. Authorities say the crash involved two semi-trucks and two vehicles near the 88-mile marker, causing one of the semis to end up in a ditch.
Michigan State Police officials said everyone involved suffered minor injuries. The affected area of the freeway was reopened at around 8:00 p.m..
