Previously, police had been investigating the death of 41-year-old Covert man Shondel Newell, who was shot around the area of Elkenburg Park.
Newell tried to drive away from the scene before crashing into a Pizza Hut parking lot at 880 LeGrange Street, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The shooting also prompted lockdowns of South Haven High School and Lincoln Elementary School for about 30 minutes.
At that time, South Haven Police Chief Natalie Thompson said detectives identified two persons of interest. One was interviewed in July, but the other, 23-year-old Tiah Sutton, was unable to be located.
Police say there was some sort of dispute leading up to the shooting, of which Sutton is accused in.
According to a report from WOOD TV, Sutton now faces charges of open murder, carrying a concealed weapon, unlawful imprisonment and felony firearms.
She will be back in court later this month.
