FREDONIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A driver believed to be under the influence of drugs and alcohol became trapped in their vehicle following a crash in Calhoun County Monday morning. It happened around 11:30 on 15 Mile Rd. west of I-69 near Marshall.
Sheriff’s deputies say a 38-year-old man from Jackson failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway before striking a tree. Emergency responders had to extricate him from the vehicle before he was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators located a large amount of packaged marijuana as well as some weapons inside the vehicle. Any potential charges against the driver are still being determined.
