CLEVELAND, OH (WKZO AM/FM) – The Indians scored four runs in the third inning and went on to defeat the Detroit Tigers 6-1 on Friday night in the opening game of a three game weekend series in Cleveland. The Tigers offense was shut down by Cleveland starter Cal Quantrill as he struck out a career-high 10 batters in seven innings of work.
Tiger starter Matt Manning had a night he would like to forget about as he surrendered six runs and 10 hits in four innings.
The second of the series is Saturday night. Tyler Alexander is the scheduled starter for the Tigers. Cleveland is scheduled to send Eli Morgan to the mound.
