WOODLAND, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The man involved in a seven-hour stand-off with Michigan State Police troopers and deputies with the Barry County Sheriff’s office at a gas station late Wednesday and early Thursday has been arraigned. 48-year-old Timothy Riddle is charged with felonious assault among other charges.
Michigan State Police Lieutenant Chuck Christensen says Riddle had been wanted by authorities for several break-ins earlier that day before he was located. A police chase started in Hastings and ended at a Mobil gas station in Woodland on M-43, leading to the stand-off.
He apparently had been hiding in the ceiling at the gas station and fired some gunshots. Riddle told the lone customer in the store to leave, and two employees hid until they were able to escape. No one was hurt. He surrendered around 1:30 Thursday morning.
Bond was set at $500,000 and a probable cause hearing is set for August 25.
Riddle had previously been in prison on a life sentence since he was 15-years-old for killing a woman near Detroit but was released in 2017 after life sentences for juveniles were made illegal by the Supreme Court.
