BERRIEN COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Detectives with the Southwest Enforcement Team (SWET) announced Wednesday that two parolees were arrested after a bust in Berrien County Tuesday.
In Niles, detectives recovered approximately 1.5 grams of heroin, over a quarter of crystal meth, a 9mm pistol, an AK-47 rifle with an additional magazine and ammunition.
In Buchanan, detectives recovered evidence from controlled purchases previously conducted.
The two parolees, a 37-year-old Niles man and a 43-year-old Buchanan man, were subsequently lodged in the Berrien County jail on parole detainers while the Berrien County prosecutor’s office review new felony drugs and weapons charges against both men.
Prior to the execution of the search warrants, detectives had already seized 4.2 grams of heroin and 18 grams of crystal meth from these suspects.
SWET was assisted by the Buchanan Police Department, Niles Police Department, MSP Niles Post, MSP Major Case Unit and the Michigan Department of Corrections.
