KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — There will be at least two challengers trying to unseat Kalamazoo Mayor Dave Anderson in the November Election, including the current Vice Mayor.
Patrese Griffin filed to run for mayor before the filing deadline on Tuesday. She also submitted her resignation from her City Commission seat, as required to run for mayor. The resignation will be effective at 11:59 p.m. on Monday, November 1st.
The other candidate is Benjamin Stanley who ran for City Commission in 2019 and Kalamazoo County District 1 commissioner in 2020. Mayor Anderson had previously announced he was running for re-election during a press conference at Bronson Park in May.
With nine people running for seats on the Kalamazoo City Commission along with the three running for mayor, it’s setting up to be a competitive election for Kalamazoo in November.
