KALAMAZOO MI (WKZO AM/FM) – A long-time president at Kalamazoo Valley Community College has passed away.
Dr. Marilyn Schlack was the first woman president of a Michigan university or college when she was named KVCC’s president in October of 1982, and she remained in that position until her retirement in 2017.
Schlack earned her bachelor and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan, and her doctorate from Western Michigan.
She was a driving force behind the capital campaign to build the Kalamazoo Valley Museum, as well as the Arcadia Commons project.
Schlack was considered by many to be one of the area’s foremost leaders.
