Controversial women’s hoops coach at U of D Mercy is gone

DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – AnnMarie Gilbert will not return as the head coach of the University of Detroit Mercy women’s basketball team.

Officials announced yesterday that Gilbert has left the school.  The team’s 2020 season ended in January after several players made allegations against Gilbert, including that she disregarded injuries.

LaTanya Collins has been named interim head coach for the 2021-22 season.
