KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — UPDATE: The man charged in the recent murder of a Galesburg couple says that he did it because the couple was being loud and he couldn’t sleep, according to a new report by WWMT Monday.
31-year-old Robert William Wolfe has already been arraigned on two counts of open murder and two counts of felony firearm in the deaths of 49-year-old Virgil Walker and 30-year-old Hailey Walker.
He was charged on Friday, and the incident is said to have occurred on June 3.
Court documents state he shot the couple with a 9mm handgun, and later called 911 to report himself to authorities. Documents further state he told police that he couldn’t sleep due to the couple being loud.
At this time, it is believed mental health issues may have been a factor in the shooting. Wolfe is currently being held without bond, and his next appearance in court will be on June 17.

A Kalamazoo County man was charged on Friday with shooting and killing a Galesburg Couple at their apartment on Thursday, June 3rd.
WWMT reporting that Kalamazoo County District Court Judge Ann Blatchford arraigned 31-year-old Robert William Wolfe on two counts of open murder and two counts of felony firearm in the deaths of 49-year-old Virgil Walker and 30-year-old Hailey Walker.
Investigators say that Wolfe used a pistol to shoot and kill the Walkers inside their residence at the Galesburg Village Apartments Thursday morning, and that mental health issues might have played a role.
Court Records showed that Wolfe lived at the Galesburg Village Apartments and that it was unclear if he knew the couple.
Wolfe’s attorney did not request bond for him during Friday’s arraignment. Judge Blatchford ordered Wolfe to be held in Kalamazoo County Jail without bail.
Wolfe is scheduled to appear in Kalamazoo County District Court for a probable cause conference on June 17th.
